Chuck has been moving house, so I spent a good portion of my weekend making trips over there to help out, and also to move some things from his place and into mine. Namely...
Bookshelves!!!! I've been in my house for about 7 months, and this whole time my books have been packed up in bags and boxes in a closet. Now they get to stretch out and take their rightful places on the shelves. Woohoo! The house feels comfier already.
Because I've been so busy doing house-oriented things, I've gotten less reading done, but hopefully I'll be able to force myself to SIT DOWN AND RELAX this week. :) A girl can hope, right? Hope, hope, hope.
Currently reading:
Gone Girl, which is going a little slowwww for me. I think the crapola is about the hit the fan, though. I hope. Come on crapola.
Next:
Son of a Witch by Gregory Maguire. Since Wicked was a favorite from 2012, I figure it's time to jump on the next in the series.
Still need to review:
The Midwife of Hope River by Patricia Harman. Good good good stuff.

Midwife of Hope River is definitely one I want to read. Don't give up on Gone Girl - it will hit the fan very soon! Enjoy your new home. The bookshelves look absolutely lovely.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great book! I zipped through it. Very pleasant to read and I loved the historical detail. I'm also kind of obsessed with books about or containing midwifery. :D
DeleteAnd thank you! Doesn't a home feel cozier with books?
Love the new shelves! Those will be nice to come home to!
ReplyDeleteI have not read a Maguire book yet but pretty sure I've got one.
Have a great week!
Here Is My Memes Post
Thanks, Marie! They are definitely good scenery. And now with a larger TBR displayed, I should have LOTS of trouble choosing my next read. lol
DeleteGood morning, Andi! Your bookshelves look nice! I love that owl. Happy reading and have a good week.
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon, Vasilly! And thank you. The owl was a gift from "Greyson" for Christmas. I love love love it! A good week to you, too! Are you back in school yet? We started back today.
DeleteYay for the new shelves and I see they are home for your green owl that I adore ;)
ReplyDeleteThe Midwife of Hope River is one I hope to get to soon!
Thanks, Jennifer! It took long enough. And yes, that green owl is one of my faves. I wish I knew where he came from -- I'd go pick up his siblings too. hehe
DeleteI hope you enjoy Midwife as much as I did!
Gone Girl is on my tbr list-hope it picks up for you!
ReplyDeleteThanks, SaraJayne! I think it's inevitable, but it's taking longer than expected. :D
DeleteYay for bookshelves! I've heard Gone Girl starts slow.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kathy! It is slow. About 150 pages in, but I think the BIG ONE (or one of the big ones) is coming!
Deleteoh so pretty!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes--eventually the crapola WILL hit the fan. And then there will be more crapola than you can handle. Maybe enjoy the calm before the storm? ;)
It's getting ready. Andie just showed up in the picture, and you know girls with that name are always trouble. hehe
DeleteI loved, loved, LOVED Gone Girl. It was the book I recommended the most last year! Yes... Just. Keep. Reading. It's so good!
ReplyDeleteShonda, I'm glad you had such a good experience with Gone Girl! I'm over halfway through, and it's still dragging a bit for me, but I already knew some of the twists. If I didn't, I'd probably be on the edge of my seat.
DeleteSo, so glad you loved the midwife book! You totally have to stay with Gone Girl. It gets so, so enthralling...and vicious. I am actually listening to one of her other novels right now (Dark Places) and having a lot of scary moments. I love the bookshelves as well! So glad the books are home!
ReplyDeleteLoved! Posted my review today, Zibilee! I am excited to read more of Flynn's stuff. I knew too much about this book going into it, or I would probably be dying to pick it up at every available second.
DeleteI love those shelves! Hurray for bookshelves :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite line of this post? "Come on crapola." Don't worry; the crapola IS about to hit the fan. A friend warned me that the first half wasn't that great, so I hung in there and was very glad I did!
Hurray indeed, Emily!
DeleteLOL, the crapola is here! It's moving along quicker now, for sure. These people are CRAZY.
Your bookshelves are beautiful! And I covet your owl! I'm finally reading Outlander, after approximately 1,000 people have told me that I must....
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love love love the shelves, and that owl is the clincher. :) How are you liking Outlander? Is it living up to the hype?
DeleteLove the bookcase! And the books in it are so neatly organize :-) I have Gone Girl on audio, but haven't started it yet. I'm making slow progress through The SHoemaker's Wife first - which I'm loving.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tanya Patrice! They are neatly organized...for now. We'll see how long it takes that bad boy to be double-stacked. lol I need to really dig in this weekend and organize them by author. It drives me nuts that the Austers and Austens and Faulkner's are not TOGETHER. :)
DeleteFirst of all I LOVE your bookshelves!!! And I so need to get to Son of a Wtch too..dying to read that one!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Chris! I tried to start it too soon after Wicked, initially. Now that I have a year under my belt, I think I'm ready to tackle it with fresh eyes. CAN'T WAIT!
DeleteI love the bookshelf!! I said that on Instagram, though. :) Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kelly! I like those comments wherever they come from. All social networks welcome. lol :)
DeleteYour bit about Gone Girl gave me a much needed chuckle this morning. :) Very nice that you were able get your books out and arrange them.
ReplyDeleteGlad to make you chuckle, Alyce! Book arranging always makes me happy and makes me feel productive. :D
DeleteI never feel like I've moved into a house until the bookshelves are up.
ReplyDeleteBookshelves are critical. "House" is not "home" till they're up and loaded.
ReplyDeleteI must be the only person on the planet who is disinterested in Gone Girl. Maybe just a case of overexposure.
Ooo, I love that bookshelf! I have been craving one in that style for awhile -- it just looks like it will hold so many books!
ReplyDeleteLove your book cases!
ReplyDeleteI just started reading Gone Girl, too! It has been hard to get into but I have been promised it is worth it.
ReplyDeleteI have been hearing that Gone Girl moves a bit slowly. I had it on my TBR, but is is losing ground with me. I loved Wicked and would like to read more of Gregory Maguire's work.
ReplyDeleteLove your bookshelf...great arrangement of things on the top as well.
ReplyDeleteGREAT you have gotten your books out of the boxes. :)

My Blog
Gosh, I love those bookshelves. I really could use a few more in my office...
ReplyDeleteWe finally broke down and bought a flat screen tv a few weeks ago. Our HUGE tv was purchased back in 1997, so you can imagine how big and heavy it was. Rod had to get two neighbors to help him carry it out to the curb (we listed it on Freecycle) and messed up his back. But now we have a cool tv with a fancy-shmancy dvd player that allows us to stream Netflix. Love technology! :)
Beautiful bookshelves! Prepare to be disappointed in Son of a Witch.
